In order to reduce local food shortage, with its fear and anxiety, and to enable our parish youth mission for community service, the Methodist parish composed of Tipton Hill, Red Hill, Deyton Bend and Bakersville Churches, has created a food pantry and community outreach. Working in cooperation with the Society of St. Andrew and Manna Food Bank, the program provides frozen, fresh and canned; produce, meat, bakery and dairy products as well as staple dry goods to local low-income persons. Our focus groups are unemployed and under-employed families with children, disabled persons and fixed-income seniors. The outreach program is staffed entirely by members of our youth group and adult volunteers. The food pantry is open on a weekly basis and currently serves more than 500 households.
