Our church building and its contents were lost to fire on Monday morning, December 15, 1997. We are creating this web site to chronicle our grieving process and share memories and pictures of the church and its members. A guest book is available to allow members and others to share thoughts and encouragement as we rebuild our church.

The Morris Chapel United Methodist Church is located near Milledgeville. We will be worshiping with them until our church is rebuilt. If you would like to get an idea of where Milledgeville is located in relationship to Morris Chapel, you can view this map.

The outpouring of help and encouragement has been amazing. Morris Chapel Methodist Church has a smaller congregation than Milledgeville and has not fully utilized their building in the past few years. We will be meeting at Morris Chapel on Saturday, December 20, to clean and repair the rooms that have not been used in awhile. Lebanon United Methodist Church has graciously loaned us some chairs that were stored in their attic. Please join us on Saturday if you can help.

Sunday morning, December 21, 9:00am, we will have a memorial service in the parking lot of the Milledgeville United Methodist Church. Rain is predicted, so Shackelford Funeral Home has loaned us a tent for this service. Shackelford has also offered the use of their chapel if we are too crowded at Morris Chapel.

The church building and its contents were completely destroyed. We are so thankful that no one was injured and that surrounding buildings and homes were not damaged. The insurance on our building will not completely cover the cost of rebuilding our church. The furnishings will need to be replaced as well.
