Christian Education
Children - Kelly Young and Connie Lamb offer a full school program which meets during the worship service starting with nursery care for infants through age two. Older children are invited to participate in a program of religious instruction through the eighth grade.
The church school children also participate actively in the regular worship services.
Adults - we usually have a christian educational experience ongoing for adults. In the past, we have done bible study the Gospels, and a 36 week structured course called "Disciple through Bible Study".
The Witness Ministry Team provides opportunities for individuals to meet Jesus Christ through Mount Tabor Church. We invite people to come, look, see and meet Jesus, first hand, through both fun and spiritual activities.
The Nurture Ministry Team focuses, primarily, on the internal needs of the members of the congregation. By supporting the internal needs of the congregation, it prepares our church members for ministry to the community and the world. This Ministry Team oversees the educational and fellowship areas of the church. The church school, youth ministry, adult seminars, Bible Study, and other fellowship activities, like church picnics and pot luck suppers, are overseen by the Nurture Ministry Team.
Mount Tabor is active both locally and through the United Methodist Church in outreach activities. Locally, we participate actively in many local programs.
Through the United Methodist Church, we are involved in mission work throughout the world and help support 20 hospitals, 26 colleges and universities, and many ongoing service projects, touching the lives of millions of people
DENOMINATIONAL PROJECTS - The congregation partakes in the six traditional United Methodist Special Offerings each year. This provides the congregation with an opportunity to reach out beyond Easton and Connecticut into the nation and the world.
ADVANCE
SPECIAL requests from the Denomination provide us with a means to respond to
the emerging needs of the world. In the past we have made contributions to
United Methodist Committee on Relief requests in response to earth quakes,
hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and other natural disasters.
Worship Ministry Team oversees the worship life of the congregation. This ministry, in consultation with the Pastor, helps to develop special church services for special events such as All Saints Day, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Thanksgiving and Easter. The Worship Team also ensures the sanctuary is properly prepared for Sunday services by preparing the communion elements on Communion Sunday, adorning the Altar with flowers, and providing tasteful decorations, appropriate to the season, for the church throughout the year. This ministry team meets quarterly and is on call throughout the year.
Mount Tabor is governed and administered by the lay members of the congregation. Opportunities for participation and leadership abound in various areas ranging from church administration and finance, to outreach, to Christian education
The Ministry of Finance and Stewardship is responsible for overseeing the prudent use of our financial resources. This Ministry Team constructs the yearly budget, conducts the annual Stewardship Campaign, balances our income and expenses, and provides guidance to the Administrative Council on financial concerns of the church.
Staff Parish Relations Committee
Staff Parish Relations Committee serves as the "Personnel Office" of the church. Staff Parish Relations ensures that the church is appropriately staffed. The committee provides guidance to the Pastor regarding the establishment of priorities for ministry and evaluating the effectiveness of that ministry. Membership on the Staff Parish Relations Committee is limited to nine individuals who serve for a term of 3 years.
This board of elected members are responsible for the stewardship (maintenance & upkeep) of the church property, and the management of the endowment fund of the church, including periodic reviews of the investments in the endowment fund and the expenditures made from that fund. They are also responsible for periodically reviewing the insurance coverage on the church to ensure they are adequate.
