A Message from the Pastor,
  Rev. John F. Holden

Rev. John Holden

Mt. Salem in Rockford Park Church is re-focusing its ministry and mission
to reach into its community to invite and reinvite
member, friends, and neighbors to make four turns to faithful living.
Together we are turning to Christ, to the word of God,
to the fellowship of the Church, and to the service of love to all in need.

This historic church was faithful to the Gospel when in the early nineteenth century
its founders taught reading, writing, and arithmetic
along with Christian worship and education.
For a hundred and fifty years the congregation provided religious guidance,
support, and hope to the families and workers
of the mills along the nearby Brandywine River.
Today this faithful people of God are offering Christ
and the Christian lifestyle especially to our neighbors
now living near our building, as well as our community at large.

God leads us into the tasks that are ours;
God provides us the people,
the tools, and the other resources we need.
We will be faithful disciples.
In God's power we will offer Christ to our neighbors
at times and in styles that are appropriate to them.

Mission
Mt. Salem United Methodist Church is a body of believers
who live out the mandate of Jesus Christ in proclamation of the Word of God through the ministries of nurture, empowerment and support of the Gospel message.
Mt. Salem is alive in the Spirit.
We are the light set at the top of the hill (Rockford Park across from the Tower).

During the week, we have activities that will meet your spiritual needs. We offer premarital and grief counseling. We perform Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals.
