Arts Evening at Hope UMC!

The Marshalltown Saxophone Quartet will present the next Arts Concert on Saturday May 4, 2013 at Hope United Methodist Church, 2203 S. 3rd Ave, in Marshalltown at
7:00 p. m.

Members of the Marshalltown Saxophone Quartet include Megan Assemacher-Umthun, soprano and alto saxophones; Jodi Brintnall, alto saxophone; Meghan Schumacker, tenor saxophone; and Ron Ohrt, baritone saxophone.

Their program will feature a Scott Joplin Portrait arranged by Bill Holcombe, music from Kurt Weill’s Threepenny Opera including Tango, Polly’s Song, Ballad of the Good Life, and Ballad of Mac the Knife, and Sevilla by J. Albeniz. Following an intermission they will present a Bill Holcombe arrangement of a Salute to Glenn Miller which will include American Patrol, Moonlight Serenade, and In The Mood. The program will conclude with Henry Mancini’s Pink Panther.

Megan Assenmacher-Umthun is employed by Marshalltown High School, Jodi Brintnall is employed by the city of Marshalltown School District, Meghan Schumacker is employed by Marshalltown Community College and Ron Ohrt is employed by the Marshalltown Police Department.

The Marshalltown Saxophone Quartet has been been performing for three years. They have played in a variety of venues such as: churches, guest appearances with the Marshalltown Municipal Band, at the Country Club, Orpheum, and guest appearances throughout the Marshalltown area.

The Second Saturday Arts Festival is sponsored by Hope UM Church. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served following the program. Donations will go toward the pipe organ installation expenses.
