Volunteer work week at Camp Michigamme: July 13-19; a week of work projects. Both
individuals and groups are welcome to come and be a part of the team. That week will
be mostly focused on the demolition of three structures. Also looking for people
who are willing to get dirty helping with the dismantling and processing of the building
material to the dumpster and burn pile. Most work will be at ground level; little,
if any, ladder work will be needed. Pickup trucks with drivers needed for hauling
items. Please note that you will be handling used building materials so gloves, eye
protection and good work shoes or boots are encouraged for your own safety. If you
are planning on helping that week, please contact Jim Daly at jimdaly@campmichigamme.org
or call 906-458-3310 ahead of time.
Camp New Day UP: July 27-August 2; Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp; a camping experience
for children 9-14 years of age who have a family member in prison. This is an ecumenical
ministry of the Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran, United Methodist, Presbyterian and
Unity Churches of the Upper Peninsula.
2008 Conference Youth Assembly: August 6-10. CYA 2008 will climb aboard “God’s B.U.S.”
Building, using, and spreading the community of Christ is the theme of this year’s
Assembly. In 2007, we successfully explored worship. We will now take our faith,
grown stronger through worship, into the real world. In addition to the fun activities
found every year at CYA, several guests will share their fascinating experiences
with expanding God’s kingdom through their extensive evangelism and mission work.
Join us for an exciting and informative exploration of how God uses us to work for
His greater glory. Downlaod the flyer and registration for the Conference Youth Assembly
at Adrian College on August 6-10, 2008, or email Laurie Kaufman de la Garza, adult
advisor of the CCYM.
