Celebrating Mount Vernon’s 125 Years of Ministry

What a wonderful legacy to share - 125 years of ministry!!

We have so much to celebrate, and our planning team has offered many ways in which we can all participate during this historic year.

First, here's our calendar of events:

June 22-26:  Vacation Bible School:  Camp E.D.G.E.

August 18 & 19:  Pictorial Directory
September 11 & 12:  Pictorial Directory

October 18:  Stewardship Commitment Sunday

November 8:  Mount Vernon Heritage Sunday
One Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. with Guest Preacher, The Rev. C. Douglas Pillow
Lunch after the Service

December 13:  A Service of Lessons & Carols

We are using the “125” number as a catalyst for service in the community and congregational support for the future of this church. Here are possible ways everyone can participate through the remainder of the year …

Can we, as a congregation ...

  • Volunteer 125 Hours of Community Ministry (Habitat for Humanity, God’s Storehouse, Carpenter’s Project, etc.)?
  • Give 125 Pints of Blood to build up the supply in the hospital blood bank?
  • Purchase 125 of our $125 HERITAGE BRICKS in “honor” or in “memory” of church members?
  • Spend 125 Hours in Prayer for thanksgiving and guidance for our congregation?
  • Invite 125 Visitors to attend worship?
  • Read 125 Chapters in the Bible?
  • Meet the Challenge of Our United Methodist Women to Donate 125 of Various Items to help the Henry Fork Service Center and the House of Hope (e.g., 125 Campbells Soup labels, 125 pounds of sugar, 125 tea bags, 125 boxes of cereal, etc.)?

... YES WE CAN !!!

God has certainly blessed this congregation throughout this century and a quarter, and God has plans for us today! Come and join us in ministry!
