Sunday school classes for everyone
Mount Vernon offers a Sunday school class for people from ages 4 to 104!
If you're not involved in a class, drop in on a class or two and give it a try. You'll find extraordinary teachers, inspiring lessons, and friendly folks.
Not only does small-group study help strengthen your relationship with God, but it builds and strengthens relationships between group members.
All classes meet from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. A nursery is provided for children younger than 4.
CLASSES FOR CHILDREN
AND YOUTH
Top-Quality Nursery – Trained youth and adult volunteers from Mount Vernon assist our nursery caregiver.
Children Age 4 and 5 – This year we have added a class for children in this age group. This group uses the "Live B.I.G." curriculum, which helps children to see, hear, and live their "Belief In God." The class
meets upstairs in the educational building.
Children in Grades 1-5 – This group uses the "Live B.I.G." curriculum, which helps children to see, hear, and live their "Belief In God." The class meets upstairs in the educational building.
Grades 6-8 – During the fall Reverend Palmer leads this class. Lessons focus on confirmation preparation for those students who have not yet been confirmed, but those who have been confirmed are encouraged to attend. This class meets downstairs, next to the Youth room.

Contemporary Bible Study – A Bible study group that focuses on current events, interests, and problems on the local, national, and international level, and on how we, as individuals and collectively as the church, are called upon to respond. Meets in room 222. Leader: Suzanne Miller. Young and middle-age adults.
Landis Class – In the fall (for example) the class studied "The Canonization of the New Testament," by Bart Ehrman, Department Chair of Religious Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill, using DVD segments followed by discussion. Meets in room 104 (the Hamlin-Buchanan room, next to the church office).
Leader: Linwood Wright. Middle-age and older adults.

decided to start
the "Good

pointed out
there were
needs in the
community that
were slipping
through the
cracks.
