Living out the Love of God made plain by JesusPipe Organ![]() The Wicks pipe organ in the Mt. Tam UMC sanctuary was built in 1989. It has eleven ranks of pipes, consisting of 675 individual pipes. A bequest in the 1990s made possible the enlargement of the organ by ten electronic ranks. High technology seamlessly integrates the new electronic ranks with the original pipe ranks in a truly modern musical instrument. Hyunjung Choi (pictured above with her husband Jaesung Choi) is the church organist. She is a native of Seoul, Korea, and started to play the piano at the age of three. She won the Grand Prize in a National Piano Competition for Young Artists when she was nine. She studied the piano, organ, and music theory at Sun Hwa Conservatory of Music and Yonsei University in Seoul. In Korea, she played for the Seoul Baroque Choir, World Vision Children's Choir, and Yonsei University Tabernacle Choir. In California, she has played for the San Francisco Korean Master Chorale, The New Choir of San Jose, San Francisco Korean Children's Choir, and Singers Marin with Jan Pedersen Schiff.
The congregation purchased a grand piano in 2006. |
