Local Community Outreach
Mt. Tam UMC several years ago decided to reach out to non-profit organizations in the community and make its facilities available to them and in turn receive rental income for the church. This effort has been wonderfully successful. Thousands of people have been exposed to the church and have experienced Mt. Tam UMC "as the church with the open door." Some have become affiliated as members. Each week, 20 twelve step meetings are held in the church, attended by over 1,000 people. On a monthly basis, up to 250 music lessons are given to children. Three musical organizations that cater to seniors put on 15 concerts a year -- one of which, the Russian Chamber Orchestra, is pictured above.
