First Methodist Plans Mission Trip to Liberia, Costa Rica

June 17-24, 2000

Twenty-five team members go to Costa Rica to build a place of worship, provide a medical clinic and teach vacation bible school. So why Costa Rica?  Emmanuel Mora, associate minister for Hispanic ministries at First Methodist, is from Liberia, Costa Rica, and was once the minister of that particular church - so he has first-hand knowledge of the need for a structure.   Some 50 adults and about the same amount of children all cram into the pastor's living room for worship services.  Still, the church is growing.

Many first Methodist church members have donated money for the project.  The ministry extends to Hispanics in Ellenton, Meigs and Morgan, who also donated money for the structure.
