Morningside
United Methodist Church – Shreveport, LA
Greetings to all!
With great remorse I write this letter. Morningside has been going through a lot of changes lately. These last few years have been very difficult for all us. We have come together in the last few months, through the process of ChurchANew.Now, to realize the issues that face us today as a church. We have come to the conclusion that as a result of our aging and declining membership, Morningside UMC will have to close its doors. We have all been on a long and hard some journey trying to discern God’s will for our church. We have concluded that with the membership we have, we are not willing to make sufficient changes necessarily to turn the future of Morningside around.
On January 15, 2006, a majority of the congregation voted to close our doors this May, officially on or about June 25th. We now have a tough journey ahead of us as we each plan for our individual futures outside Morningside’s doors. Rev. Beth is committed to helping us make a smooth transition. With her help, all members should be able to find a new church where they can feel welcomed and at home.
Morningside will leave behind a rich legacy of a loving and caring congregation. Morningside is a place that many have called home for several decades. Many of us have strong binds to others in the church and consider everyone family, because that who we are; we are all children of God. So these coming months we bind together in faith and in love to close one chapter of our journey in faith and start a new one, whether it’s together or with new people, we still carry on the proud and true tradition of Morningside United Methodist Church.
Please note that the website will be shutdown and only important announcements will be posted for the public on the website.
May God Bless,

Michael Rigby
