IN-VO-CARE
All too often, many of our elderly neighbors struggle to "get-by" without adequate support. These people are in desperate need of in-home assistance, respite care, or social support. IN-VO-CARE (Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers) was started in 1998 by Livingston Memorial Hospital, in cooperation with several area agencies and churches to address these needs. We are a non-profit association working in our community to do "neighborly" things. The initial funding for this project was provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Livingston Memorial Hospital and community wide efforts. The RWJ Foundation was extremely generous in helping us meet the needs of this community. Now we must broaden and strengthen our local resources. We are appealing to you for support. Please know that your contribution will be greatly appreciated. The needs of the disabled and elderly are ongoing. We are grateful for your support of our program. Quotes From Our Participants "This is a great service to the community, it allows me to serve others and keep a low profile in the act of giving support." "The program is a wonderful service for those who are homebound." "I could not get along without it, thank you." We are transporting elderly or disabled neighbors to out-of-town doctor's appointments, cooking meals, and running errands. We are fixing broken doors, mending broken fences and healing broken hearts, one person at a time.
"What we have done for ourselves alone, dies with us: what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal."
