Our Mission

When we, as individuals and as a community, volunteer out time, talents, and money to organizations, we do not often stop to consider the importance and impact such efforts have.  Sometimes, perhaps often, we spend more time considering why such suffering occurs.  How many of us have not asked, "Why does God let such atrocities occur?"  This question is quite common and goes seemingly unanswered.  We believe the answer is written all over the Bible.  When God instructs us to help others, to love others, to reach out to those who are suffering and in need,  he is giving us the answer.  He does not let people suffer or go without, we do.

God gave us the beginning freedom of choice.  He did not create us as puppets of his will, which would certainly have kept us in the Garden of Eden, in a world without suffering.  We need to realize that, along with control of our lives, God also gave us the resources to provide for every human being.  We have enough resources to feed, clothe, and house every person created.  We are endowed by our Creator with a capacity for love and compassion that would see an end to suffering would we but tap into even a small portion of that  God-given capacity for love.  We are committed at the Mokena Untied Methodist Church to providing all we can for every human being.
