BULLETIN NOTES – OCTOBER 22, 2000

Dear Members and Friends,

The past several weeks we have walked with Job through times of loss, anguish, despair, and frustration with God.  We have watched as his friends accused him of sins he did not commit.  Today, we hear God’s answer to Job’s questions and witness God’s sovereign acts of redemption and restoration.

BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE

By Helen Steiner Rice

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you.

~ 1 Peter 5:10

When troubles come

and things go wrong,

And days are cheerless

and nights are long,

We find it so easy

to give in to despair

By magnifying

the burdens we bear…

And the blessing God sent

in a “darkened disguise”

Our troubled hearts

fail to recognize

Not knowing God sent it

not to distress us

But to strengthen our faith

and redeem us and bless us.
