BULLETIN NOTES – NOVEMBER 19, 2000

Dear Members and Friends,

The Thanksgiving season is upon us and there is much to be thankful for.  Oh yes, there are the usual things – family, friends, jobs, health, and answered prayers.  Fortunately, for me there is one other thing:  the M.L. Harris Church Family and community supporters.  While it is true that this year has been one of upheaval, confusion, and uncertainty, God has been faithful and has seen us through it all.

I am thankful for those who kept believing that everything would turn out right in the end, the officers and church leaders, who have put in countless hours of meeting after meeting, who sometimes felt overwhelmed and frustrated, but refused to give up.  I am thankful for your words of encouragement, your thoughtfulness toward me, your personal care and concern, gifts (great and small), and your support of me during community engagements.  Most of all I am thankful for your faith in me as God’s servant and your forgiveness when you feel that I’ve erred.

May God continue to bless us as we strive to be a blessing for others.  Yes, M.L. Harris, we have been blessed to be a blessing.  Thanks be to God.

MAKE EVERY DAY THANKSGIVING

By Helen Steiner Rice

Thank you, God, for everything –

the big things and the small,

For every good gift comes from God –

the giver of them all,

Too often we accept

without any thanks or praise

The gifts God sends as blessings

each day in many ways,

O, make us more aware, dear God,

of little daily graces

That come to us with sweet surprise

from never-dreamed-of places,

And help us to remember

that the key to life and living

Is to make each prayer a prayer of thanks

and every day THANKSGIVING.
