BULLETIN NOTES – DECEMBER 10, 2000
FUNNY, ISN’T IT?
It’s funny how a $10 bill looks so big when you take
it to church, but so small when you take it to the mall.
It’s funny how overwhelming an hour on your knees praising
God seems and how short 60 minutes feels when playing golf, fishing or other
recreational activities.
It’s funny how a long a couple of hours feel at
church, but how short they seem when watching a movie.
It’s funny how we get thrilled when a football game
goes into overtime, but we complain when a sermon goes into overtime.
It’s funny how laborious it is to read a chapter in the
Bible and how easy it is to read 200 or 300 pages of a best-selling novel.
It’s funny how we cannot fit a church meeting into our
schedule with a yearly planner but we can schedule for other events at a moment’s
notice.
It’s funny how we can’t think of anything to say when
we pray, be we don’t have any difficulty thinking of things to talk about to
our friends.
It’s funny how we are so consumed with what others
think about us rather than what God thinks about us.
It’s funny how people think that they can get more
accomplished in lifetime without God than in an hour with him.
It’s funny how everyone wants to go to heaven, but
aren’t willing to work for, believe in, thank, trust, have a relationship with,
or truly get to know God before they die.
Funny, isn’t it?
