Hello,
My
name is Rev. Ben Ellis and I am the pastor at Millbrook United
Methodist Church. I arrived here July 1, 2008 from California,
and I am thoroughly enjoying New Jersey. I have a loving wife,
Theresa, with whom I share this ministry and three wonderful
children. Let me tell you something about what I believe:
I
believe in the presence and power of the living God, and that
there is nothing in life as important as walking each day humbly
and gratefully with the Lord. Part of this response is worship.
Another part is a constant trust that helps us stand against all
life’s trials and challenges.
The
United Methodist Church does not have a doctrine its members
must accept. Instead we ask that each member search the
scriptures, look to tradition, and reflect on our own experience
and reason to determine God’s will and what is appropriate
behavior. This means we are a gathering of faithful individuals
who encourage each other in spite of differences, and accept a
wide variety of beliefs within our fellowship
We
believe God moves each of us into our own ministries of service.
The life of Millbrook UMC is totally dependent upon the response
of its members to the call of God. And, it is the responsibility
of the church to help our members to grow in the power of the
Holy Spirit, find that call and turn our visions into action. We
participate in a wide variety of mission work that has sprung
from the interests and the inspiration of individual members.
We
hope you will come and see Millbrook UMC in action, and
experience for yourself the love, the fellowship, and the faith
we share together.
