A CREED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve.
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.....
I asked for health, that I might do great things.
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.....
I asked for riches, that I might be happy.
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.....
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men.
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God......
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life.
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things......
I got nothing I asked for ---  but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among men, most richly blessed!
....Roy Campanella

How strong is "YOUR" unconditional love??

Many years ago, a volunteer at Stanford Hospital,  got to know a little girl named Liza who was suffering from a rare and serious disease.  Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her five-year-old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness.  The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

They   saw   him   hesitate   for   only   a

moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes, I'll do it if it will save Liza."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in a bed next to his sister and smiled, seeing the color  returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?" Being young, the boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give her all his blood.

"Sibling Rivalry"

.....passed down from "MY" mom!

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.  After explaining the commandment to "honor thy father and thy mother", she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?" Without hesitation one little boy answered, "Thou shall not kill".

"I am thankful for....

The alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means that I am alive.

For the person behind me in church who sings off-key, because it means that I can hear."

Prayer

It is not necessary to maintain a conversation when we are in the presence of God. We can come into His presence and rest our weary souls in quiet contemplation of Him. Our groanings, which cannot be uttered, rise to Him and tell Him better than words how dependent we are upon Him.

... O. Hallesby,[1931]

The Atheist's Worst Moment

"The worst moment for the atheist is when he is really thankful, and has nobody to thank."

Dante Gabriel Rossetti

YOU ARE RICHER TODAY IF ... YOU HAVE LAUGHED!!

This is a note sent to school for a child that was out on Monday!

Please excuse Jennifer for missing school yesterday. We forgot to get the Sunday paper off the porch, and when we found it Monday, we thought it was Sunday!

PRAYERS CAN'T BE ANSWERED UNLESS THEY ARE PRAYED

A life without purpose is barren indeed. There can't be a harvest unless you plant seeds. There can't be attainment unless there's a goal. and man's but a robot unless there's a soul. If we send no ships out, no ships will come in, and unless there's a contest, nobody can win. For games can't be won unless they are played, and PRAYERS CAN'T BE ANSWERED UNLESS THEY ARE PRAYED! So, whatever is wrong with your life today, you'll find a solution if you kneel down and pray. Not just for pleasure, enjoyment and health, not just for honors and prestige and wealth. But pray for a purpose to make life with living, and pray for the joy of unselfish giving. For great is your gladness and rich is your reward, when you make your life's purpose the choice of the Lord.

Have a blessed day.
