Community Solutions
In February, we received from Community Solutions a "wish list" of supplies for La Isla Pacifica women's shelter:
- diapers (disposable); formula
- shampoo; deoderant; toothpaste; toothbrushes
- linens (gently used or new); towels; sheets; blankets
- Target or Safeway giftcards
We will be visiting local merchants and raising money to help fulfill this list. |
Book Club
The newly-formed book club will be reading one book every two months, and meeting on the 1st
and 3rd Wednesdays at 2pm (at the church) for discussion etc. The book for March/April is "The Enduring Human
Spirit: Thought-Provoking Stores on Caring for our Elders", by Charles
Tindell. During May/June, the group will be reading "The Lakota Way: Stories and Lessons for Living" by Joseph M. Marshall III. These books are part of the UMW Reading Program.
For more info on the book club, contact Carol Frazer.

Fair Trade Coffee
The Coffee Project, working with Equal Exchange, supports the coffee & cocoa farmers and promotes ecologically sound methods
of farming. In addition, for each case of coffee, tea, or cocoa sold through the project, Equal Exchange makes a contribution to UMCOR's Small Farmer Fund. We will be selling the coffee & cocoa to also raise money
for the Community Solutions project and the UMCOR Emergency Kits. |
UMCOR Emergency Kits
This year, our conference is recommending we send either Health Kits or School Kits. We have not yet
decided which to make. Since the kits are collected or counted at the Conference Annual Celebration in
October, we will be working on them this summer/early fall.
