SHINING STAR

CHRISTMAS FLOAT

We will be having a float in the Mexico Christmas Parade on November 21st. Our children’s choir and Discovery Group will be singing “Shining Star, My Shining Star”. Walkers will be handing out candy and stars with information about our church. If you would like to join in the fun, or for more information, please contact Betty Moeller

“A Gingerbread Christmas”

The air is crisp, the leaves are beginning to change, gently fall and we find ourselves scrambling for our coats. We are getting ready for another fall season. We also find that we are beginning to see Christmas decorations in the stores and that starts us thinking about the 2009 UMW Christmas Bazaar. With each new year is a new focus. This year the theme is “A Gingerbread Christmas”. The Bazaar will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Friday, December 4, from 8am – 7pm.

There will be the traditional areas this year: candy, crafts, cookies, bread, Methodist wassail and lots of great fellowship. Some new areas include a table for crafts made by the kids from the Discovery group and a table for UMW Chico shopping/utility bags. The special interest this year will be Gingerbread, of course: houses, ornaments, cookie cutters, anything with gingerbreads (boys and girls). These may be left at the church office, or brought to the Fellowship Hall on Thursday, December 3 between 5 and 7 pm.

This year we are making chili and chicken noodle soup in house. Each ticket will be $5 and includes soup, relishes, dessert and drink. The kids menu will consist of hot dog, chips, dessert and drink. Our desserts will be a variety of pies, cakes and brownies.

The Methodist quilters have had a blue log cabin quilt hanging in the Fellowship Hall during October. This quilt was done in memory of Frances Morris, who gave so much of herself for the Bazaar, the quilters and the church. It will be sold by silent bid during the Bazaar. There will be a minimum bid on the quilt and bidding will end at 7 pm.

As always, it takes more than just UMW members and help from the entire church population is always needed and appreciated. We would welcome your help in any of these areas:

Helping in the kitchen and prep work

Donations to help with the cost of food supplies

Donations of desserts

Help cleaning up after 7pm

United Methodist Women help the church and this community in many ways. All the proceeds go for our mission projects: local, national and international. In all of this, we work for the Glory of God. Your generosity has always been wonderful and we are looking forward to another successful year.
