HISTORY The Mexico United Methodist Church has been a continuing ministry since its founding at the home of John C. Martin in 1832. Located 1-1/2 miles northwest of Mexico, it location today would be inside Mexico's city limits. The church's second home, at the corner of Jefferson and Promenade, was said to stable Ulysses S. Grant's horses during his stay in Mexico during the Civil War. The current facility has been open for service since Christmas Eve, 1965. DIRECTIONS Mexico United Methodist Church is located in downtown Mexico on the corner of Promenade and Coal Streets. It is easily accessible from Hwy's 54, 15, 22, and Business 54.
