THE DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE

 

 

Dear Members of the Metropolitan District:

 

This is the second publication of the Metropages.  In this booklet, we have compiled a variety of statistical information provided by churches in their 2005 statistical and financial reports.

 

As in the first publication, the focus is on membership, attendance and apportionment information.  These statistics provide a glimpse of what is happening in the life of each local church.

 

An attempt has been made to expand the section in which the statistics are compared.  There is a comparison of each of the three statistics from 2003 and 2005.  This will provide an opportunity for churches to see the progress made during that period.

 

It is hoped that the booklet will be a tool to help us focus on the development of our congregations.

 

 Vibrant, growing churches make for a strong conference; strong conferences create a great denomination.  In recognition of the need to strengthen our churches, the booklet seeks to move beyond simply providing information to encouraging readers to reflect on what the statistics mean and then engage in meaningful action.

 

My sisters and brothers, I believe that God has presented us with significant opportunities to minister to others and make a difference in our communities.  As we review these 2005 statistics let them motivate us to redouble our efforts in ministry as we begin the final quarter of 2006.
