Pastor's Reflections

"LAR BIO"
The Church at its best seeks to meet the needs of people,

not as objects of service, but as children of God.  Why?

Because the Church is the body of Christ - Easter people,

created for the care of humanity.
At Easter we celebrate the atoning act of God in Jesus of Nazareth.

The doctrine of the atonement expresses the belief in the work of Christ

as the act of reconciling God with sinful humanity.
Christians have varied in their understanding of the observances.

The more influential theories are: a) the dramatic theory (Irenaeus),

Christ's triumph over the powers of evil; b) satisfaction (Anselm),

the discharge of the debt which sinful human beings owe to God;

c) the exemplarist theory (Abelard),

the display of God's love, which spurs the transformation of personality; and

d) the governmental theory (Grotius), the affirmation of universal moral order.

*8:45 AM Praise, Prayer, and Holy Communion in the sanctuary.

February - September

*11:00 AM Morning Worship
The above are offered that worshippers may come to appreciate the full meaning of divine justice

and experience justification with sanctification,

believing in our guaranteed satisfaction through Christ's fulfillment of the law with his death upon the cross.
John Wesley practiced fasting and encouraged his preachers to teach it by precept and example.

Congregations and conferences often fasted in early Methodism during periods of disagreements

and when seeking guidance for a difficult decision.
Come experience the presence of God!
