Note:
John Wesley’s personal experience of the burning heart in
Aldersgate inspired the authors of this hymn who wrote it to
commemorate the establishment of the Methodist Church in
Puerto Rico one hundred years ago.
“The
Burning Heart”
1.
The flame of the Burning Heart’s been present
Since its coming, one hundred years ago;
Now we’re facing the New Millennium
With our hands raised up to heaven,
May the Holy Spirit guides us in our way.
(Refrain)
The flame of the Burning Heart is in you;
The flame of the Burning Heart is in me;
The
flame of the Burning Heart
is always present in our lives,
now and forever, amen.
2.
Jesus, our strength at all times,
Wants us the unity to keep;
Seeking peace for everyone
In the unity of prayer
Showing love and forgiveness to all. (Refrain)
3.
For the past hundred years of existence,
The Word of Salvation you’ve been preaching
As a rock you firmly
stand,
E’er proclaiming to the world,
The
Lord reigns forever, amen! (Refrain)
