Instructions for Registering for and Using Messiah Church’s Electronic Giving (e-Giving) Program

This set of instructions is offered as a guide for per= sons who are familiar with web-based transaction formats. A link to the e-Giving website can be found on Messiah Church’s homepage [http://www.gbgm-umc.org/mess= iah-ship/]. This instruction sheet can also be downloaded as a PDF.

1.&n= bsp; Click on the e-Giving link on Messiah’s webpage, or enter the following URL http://e-giving.org/start.= asp?id=3D1761 in your browser window; you can als= o save this link as a favorite. Be sure that the name of Messiah United Methodist Church appears at the top of the e-Giving screen.

2.&n= bsp; First time users must click on the Not signed up yet? link located below the lo= g in box or the Create an Account located in the upper left corner of the screen. Fill in all required information, including your church envelope number, and click on submit. Remember your login na= me and password; you will need these for future logins.

3.&n= bsp; After logging in to the e-Giving site, you w= ill see a set of options. You are required to review and accept the Authorization Agreement. Do this first.

4.&n= bsp; E-Giving participants may make one time contributions or set up a schedule of regular donations using credit cards, debit cards, and bank account transfers. To make a donation or set up a transaction schedule, click on the Go to My Organization’s E-giving Transaction Page link.

5.&n= bsp; Step 1 is to enter the amounts you wish to g= ive to one or both of the following:

a.&n= bsp; General Fund: Contributions in this category go = toward the church’s current expenses. Making a donation in this category is = equivalent to placing an offering in your weekly church envelope.

b.&n= bsp; Growing for God: Contributions in this category benefit Messiah’s capital campaign for 2008-2011. Making a contribution in this category is equivalent to using the yellow Growing for= God envelope.

Click on continue after you = have entered your amounts.

6.&n= bsp; Step 2 allows you to set up the payment schedule. You have three options:

a.&n= bsp; Process now generates an immediate one-time transaction.

b.&n= bsp; Schedule once in the future allows yo= u to set up a one-time transaction on a future date.

c.&n= bsp; Schedule a recurring transaction allo= ws you to set up a periodic schedule of donations. If you select this option, = you will be asked to choose among weekly, biweekly, monthly, and quarterly frequencies and to enter the start and end dates of your desired schedule.<= u>

Review the amount and desi= gnation shown on the screen and make your schedule selection. Click on continue.

7.&n= bsp; Step 3 sets up the transaction. Select credit/debit card or bank account.

a.&n= bsp; For credit/debit card transactions, you will need to enter your account information and billing address. You may also request that your information be stored for future transactions (this is required if you set up a recurring schedule).

b.&n= bsp; For bank account transactions, you will need= to enter the name of your bank, the bank’s nine-digit routing number, and your bank account number.

Please note that nominal f= ees are charged to the church for each transaction. Bank account transfers are less costly to the church than credit/debit card payments.

8.&n= bsp; Step 4 is the final step before authorizing = the transaction. Review the infor= mation displayed in the e-Giving window before clicking on the authorization butto= n.

9.&n= bsp; You will receive email confirmations of your gift and appropriate transaction notices from your bank or credit card company.

You are encouraged to explore the other options availa= ble to you through the e-Giving menu.
