Journal
- Day 4 6/18/09
"We began with breakfast and then off to a United Methodist church. The church is only three years old and has a youth group of 25 kids. Additionally, the church houses a school for neighborhood children and also ensures that they receive healthy meals. They feed 182 children a day. (It is also a Compassion International project) The children were not there, but the staff was preparing for them to arrive soon for lunch.
Off to Project Chacocente, where we ate lunch - Hot Dogs, pringles, and rice crispie cookies. (oh, and Leigh drove the bus the last 5km into the project) The residents had finished the foundation footer in the morning so we began work setting the first level of bricks. Seven kids (does Leigh count as a kid?), six kids and Leigh went to the well to paint the fence with corrosive proof paint. Went were able to work about an hour, hour and a half before the rain came. We finished up the cement we had mixed and gave up working for the day. So what to do, play soccer in the rain on a muddy field, of course! (video link sent separately.
Today's pictures include a picture of us all at the UM church, working at the site and the completion of our mud game... enjoy!"
