Who We Are
Warm, Diverse, Compassionate, Hungry
for God:
Our Identity, Our Calling, Our Vision
Warmth
Our first worship service starts at 8:30 on Sunday morning, but people
come early just to share with each other and encourage one another. Our
last service ends at noon, but no one hurries to leave. Instead, we
stay, eat a cookie or two, and enjoy getting to know new folks and
catching up with old friends.
Diversity
With our recent boom of young couples with small children, we are now a
wonderful mix of children, youth, young adults, middle-aged adults, and
senior adults. Our age diversity is matched by the diversity of our
religious backgrounds. Some of us have never actively attended church
before. Some of us have a Methodist background. Some of us have a
Catholic background or come from other denominations. Whatever, it all
goes together to make Mays Chapel a very stimulating place to be.
Compassion
Mays Chapel folks jump at the chance to bless others in Jesus’ name.
Our recent efforts include working with a day time shelter for women and
children, multiple tsunami relief projects and ongoing multiple Katrina
and Rita Relief efforts.
Spiritual hunger
The people of Mays Chapel are serious about growing in Christ. A very high
percentage of our members participate in growth opportunities beyond
Sunday worship that include Sunday School, youth groups, and small
groups for adults that meet at various times and locations throughout
the week. Our current sermon series is focused on helping our members
understand, discover, and apply their God-given spiritual gifts for the
blessing of others and the glory of God.
