Job Opening
Position: Child Care Provider
Objective: To hire experienced child care provider(s) Sunday
mornings and/or Sunday evenings.
Scope:
The employee will be part of the professional and volunteer nursery
staff that provides child care for the children of Mays Chapel United
Methodist members and guests Sundays at the Church. Care is provided in
the nursery room in the Worship Center.
Typical ages range from 6 months to 6 years, with participating
children numbering 1 through 10. In the event of a large number of
children (greater than 10) OR an infant (under 12 months) additional
volunteers will be arranged (through the Pastor).
The day to day supervision for this position is under the lead Pastor
of the church. Hiring and personnel issues are brought through the Staff
Parish Relations Committee. There are no benefits for this position and
paychecks are issued every two weeks. Direct Deposit is not available.
Hours:
- Sunday mornings 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- 9:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (newborn to too young for Sunday
school) Programming for this time may consist of active play
and some crafts for the 2 year olds. Resources are available
in the Church library.;
- 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. (combined group) Programming for
the combined group from 10:45 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. may
include playtime (music/dance, etc), story time, craft time
and planned clean-up time. Resources are available in the
Church library. Snacks are typically unplanned and nap time
is not included.; and/or
- Sunday evenings 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
- Combined group: Programming for the Sunday night care
can be geared more towards free play and open craft time.
Requirements:
- CPR/First Aid certified for infants, children, and adults (or
the ability to get within three months of start date);
- A background check and finger printing;
- Have current training courses/certificates in early childhood
development or care (e.g.,
Red Cross Baby Sitting or certification/licensing through
the State Department of Education). College credits can count for
the courses;
- Other relevant experience working with young children.
Term:
- Sunday mornings 46 weeks, with 2 weeks paid leave
- Sunday evenings 32 weeks September through May (Some Sunday
evenings off
for holidays or special events. The calendar is set in late August
for the upcoming
academic year).
Background Check, Finger Printing, Salary and References:
- Mays Chapel UMC will cover the costs for finger printing;
- Two professional references are required;
- Additional Personal reference (e.g., home pastor or minister) is
preferred;
- Prior to hiring a background check will be performed
- Salary will be commensurate with experience.
