CROP Walk
News
Each year, Church World Service’s CROP Walks raise hundreds of thousands
of dollars for local and worldwide hunger relief. Did you know that the
Capital District CROP walk is one of the top ten in the USA?
This year’s CROP walk will step off on Sunday, May 4th
at First Lutheran Church, 646 State, St., Albany. A full 25% of all
money raised will benefit the local food pantries that serve over 40,000
people each year. The remaining 75% will go world-wide to support food
relief, safe water supplies, seeds, tools, and education to help hungry
people grow more and better food. Can you walk or sponsor a walker?
More info and materials will be available soon!
Many thanks to all
who participated in the Capital Region CROP Walks on May 4th.
Preliminary figures from the Albany Walk show 550 walkers from over 50
groups. Just over $47,000 was turned in on Walk Day. Additional income
has pushed the current total to $88,000. By the time all outstanding
pledges have come in, we hope to top out around $95,000. Hope to see you
next year!
walk will take place on May 4, 2008.
