Methodist Church Home for the Aged

Respite Program

Services | Respite Program

Respite stays require a reservation.

The Methodist Church Home offers a beautifully decorated private room with a private toilet, just like the rest of the 120 rooms, but dedicated to Respite Care for adults who need skilled nursing care for a short period of time (from one day to forty-five days in one year). These adults can benefit from a Respite Care stay in our warm, caring environment, while the caregiver receives time to tend to his or her own life, family or business. Here, individuals will have their medical needs addressed by the Home's expert staff, through individually developed care plans which may include physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and other needed care services.

Our Respite Care guest can eat in our beautiful decorated dining room with other residents, and is encouraged to participate in all social and recreational activities, such as music programs, crafts, exercise, cooking, outings and much more. Of course a social worker is available to help the guest adjust to new surroundings.

To qualify, the individual must:

  • Be an adult
  • Be under a physician's care for chronic or acute medical illness
  • Be medically stable and free of infectious disease
  • Provide a current medical history and results of a recent medical exam.
Payments: Private and Medicaid.

Because of our exceptional accommodations and services, the Home sometimes has a waiting list. If it is necessary for you to place your loved one in another facility, we will make arrangements to have them transferred to us when a vacancy is available.

The Social Service and Admission staff help inform, guide, and reassure our Residents from the moment they consider applying for admission to the Methodist Church Home. Resident and family education is an important aspect of our Social Service/Admission Program. The staff provides support and coping techniques to new Residents and their families. Upon admission, if necessary, a Support Group of Residents' family will encourage others and provide them a shoulder to lean on.
