Partners In CareThe
Methodist Church Home’s Partners in Care Program offers a unique and
valuable experience to our community such as high school and college
students.
The Home provides
an
opportunity for disabled young adults to work at the facility under the
supervision of one of the Home’s directors, and their own
teacher, who together work to teach these young adults to acquire
social skills while performing meaningful tasks at the Home.
Manhattan College
students,
under the supervision of a professor, attend frequent intergenerational
activities offered to the Residents. These students participate in
activities specially designed for nursing.
Medical students
from College
of Mount Saint Vincent, under the supervision of a professor, are able
to acquire experience in geriatrics by teaming up with our staff and
providing care to our Residents.
Being involved in
our Partner
in Care Program provides more than just a job. It is an opportunity for
students to explore career opportunities, become more accustomed to a
work environment and routine, and interact with people of other
generations, cultures and backgrounds.
