Our Worldwide Urban Partners
Mathewson Street Church has formed
partnerships for mutual ministry and support with churches around the
world. Each of these churches is a center-city church serving the needs
of all God's people in the heart of the city in which it is located.
Central Methodist Mission,
Johannesburg, South Africa— This church ministers in a difficult
location in post-apartheid South Africa. Its outreach includes a
preschool program (FLOC, For the Love of Children) and direct services
for the hungry, homeless and jobless individuals who migrate to the
city.
Church of the Reconciler,
Birmingham, Alabama—
This congregation is a multi cultural, interracial United Methodist
Church
in a storefront ministry dedicated to inclusiveness. Everyone is
welcome to
bring personal fears, failings and prejudices, and to become a full
participant in this reconciling community of faith.
Iglesia de Cristo de Nicaragua,
Managua, Nicaragua— This Managua-based ministry serves the entire
country of Nicaragua and the 67 churches of Iglesis de Cristo with a
primary focus on health
promotion and dental care. The congregational work in Managua focuses
on
education, evangelism and outreach.
St. Andrew's Anglican Church,
Ramallah, Palestine— This congregation proclaims Christ in its
vital ministries in the heart of Ramallah, a city some six miles north
of Jerusalem. It hosts programs for preschoolers and senior citizens
and works ecumenically for justice and human rights in the occupied
West Bank.
