Volunteers in Mission:
Fifth Annual Trip to the Blueberry Fields of Maine

  August
~  2009
Washington County, Maine

The 2009 DownEast Maine Mission Trip is scheduled for the middle of August.  August is blueberry season, so the team will again be in ministry with migrant workers and will work on a home rehab project through the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program.

Please note that volunteer work for this mission does not mean that you have to travel to Maine.  During July and the first two weeks of August, we will be collecting:

NEW BLANKETS
NEW HAND TOWELS
NEW SOCKS
NEW T-SHIRTS
BABY GOWNS, SLEEPERS, SWEATERS, and DIAPERS
BIBLES (Spanish language!)

It costs $175 to sponsor a MSUMC mission team member.  Please consider making a cash donation.

Please contact the church office for more information: 401.331.8900
or
E-mail Rev. Carole Calhoun (cybergram2@earthlink.net)

Forms of Memory

—Nina Magliocchetti

Gallery Reception with the Artist:
  November 20th, 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

MSUMC is pleased to present a series of multimedia sculptures representing anatomical hearts by Nina Magliocchetti. The work explores the concept of memory and how we contain it; emotion and where it is experienced in the body; as well as examining our own relationships to the material objects we choose to hold on to.

Nina wishes most of all to use art as a not only a form of communication but a means of exchange. She mostly works in acrylic and watercolor paint, but also enjoys working three dimensionally. In the future, she would like to expand her work with ceramics and multimedia.

On Gallery Night, November 20th, the artist will welcome visitors to our Chapel Gallery. The gallery and labyrinth will be open between 5:00 and 9:00 that evening. Concert organist David Clyle Morse will give two exhilerating performances at 7:00 and 7:45 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Gallery Night parking is free in the Citizens Bank Plaza (rear of building) with free shuttles to the galleries.

Please consider joining us! (For more information, call 401.331.8900.)
