The United Methodist Church uses the Revised Common Lectionary. Here's how it works: for the festival seasons (Advent through Pentecost Sunday, roughly half the year) every denomination uses the same readings, with very slight variations here and there for particular observances. In the season after Pentecost, however, things change a little bit. We use the Hebrew Scriptures in a semi-continuous pattern, so the stories are told sequentially, in a sort of "to be continued" fashion, week by week. This is used by the majority of denominations.
