Camp
Rainforest Summer Adventure is the theme of the Kingdom
House Family
Center* Summer adventure camp June 6-August 1.
About 200 urban youth ages 6 to 14 will
learn about endangered rainforests and species and how our lives are
afected by them. They will enjoy the traditional arts, music, crafts,
games, and adventures of Summer Camp at Kingdom House. You are invited
to support this ministry by sponsoring a camper or donating whatever
you can. Your contribution will help urban youth have a safe, fun, and
enriching Summer.
*Kingdom
House is a United Methodist social
service agency which has been serving residents of the Near Southside
of St. Louis since 1902. Of prime concern is the provision of social
and community services for families, children and individuals under
stress, including child care, and direct material relief. Maplewood
United Methodist supports Kingdom House through
regular donations of non-perishable food items.
Thanks for
your continued support of
Kingdom House

Gladys Ministry‡
In an attempt to become better prepared for times when our members and
friends may need a meal or two provided, the Gladys Ministry‡ is being
formed. One recent suggestion was to
stockpile frozen, ready-to-heat meals:
- Make an
extra casserole on Potluck Sunday, label it with date prepared,
ingredients, and heating instructions, and put it in one of our
freezers in the kitchen. Notify Kathy or Charlotte so an inventory can
be kept.
- Package
meals to meet a variety of portion needs, from family-size casseroles
to individual servings.
The Gladys
Ministry also welcomes gift certificates for local restaurants.
‡Charlotte
Phelps recalled a time after the death of her father, when a neighbor,
Gladys, brought a bucket of chicken to her family. The gesture meant a
great deal and this ministry has been named in honor of that thoughtful
neighbor.
