Bill holds a BS in Landscape Architecture, a profession in which he served until entering seminary to pursue his call into pastoral ministry. He graduated from the Religious Society of Friends seminary, The Earlham School of Religion, in Richmond Indiana in 1989 with a Master's of Divinity degree. His first pastorate was in Hagerstown, Indiana, where he served West River Friends for 4 years while he attended seminary classes. Following West River, he did a one year interim at High Point Friends Meeting in High Point, North Carolina.
His next pastorate was 4 year ministry in Maine at the Winthrop Center Friends Meeting, in Winthrop, Maine. During his 4th year there he began his dialogue with the United Methodists in the New England Conference of the UMC as to his serving within that denomination. In pursuance of his spiritual leading in regards to this matter, he was then appointed to a two point charge in the NE Conf. serving the local UMC in North Anson, ME, in addition to serving as the executive director of the United Methodist Economic Ministry based in Salem, Maine.
After serving this appointment for 3 years both the North Anson church and the UMEM grew to require full-time appointments so, he was appointed to the North Anson church full-time and served there until 2004, 8 years in total. In 2004 he was appointed to Union Church in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, and is currently still in appointment here. Bill was received into full membership of the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1996.
