Our Mission:

We are members of the Body of Christ
Committed to Providing Opportunities for Discipleship
through The Teaching of the Word, Meaningful Worship, and Christian Service,
Accepting all who will respond to the Call of Christ.

Our church is one of over 41,000 congregations of United Methodism in the world. We hold to the basic teachings of Christianity, and consider ourselves part of the whole church of Jesus Christ, made up of many denominations.

We are followers of Jesus Christ; but the founder of our family of Christians, John Wesley, gave emphasis to certain Christian truths:

  1. Everyone can know God's love through Christ and be changed. This is God's "amazing grace."
  2. This grace fills us with an assurance that we are God's beloved children, and gives us courage to live our lives with strength, integrity, love and compassion.
  3. God wants us, both as individuals and as communities, to be better than we are. So we are active in applying God's truth to our own lives, and to the larger communities of which we are a part.
  4. While we are bound together by these truths, we celebrate a wide diversity in opinions about many matters. John Wesley said that Methodists are not defined by their opinions, but by how much they love God and "shed God's love abroad in the world."

United Methodists are tied together by a unique connectional structure enabling a strong presence throughout the world, and our local congregation is a vital part of that connection.

Who We Are:

Mackey Chapel is a small but vibrant congregation of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.  On November 14, 1999 we celebrated and thanked God for 62 years of His faithfulness, His mercy and grace and express our confidence and trust in Him for all that is yet to come.

While Mackey Chapel's membership at present is largely from the African-American community, we believe that God has called us to demonstrate the reconciling ministry of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whom the walls of separation have come crashing down.

We therefore say to all - whoever you are and wherever you have come from - no matter what your status or standing in life may be or has been - whatever your ethnicity or your cultural and language group may be - if you are looking for a church home where you will be loved, accepted, and encouraged to grow in Christian discipleship - we'd like you to consider making Mackey Chapel your church family.
