From The Pastor

I was appointed to Lynnhaven United Methodist Church in July 2007.  I have been wonderfully surprised by the health of this congregation.  I would like to share three qualities of this church which I believe are cause for celebration.  If you are looking for a church home, this might be the church for you.

1)                  The people of this church have a great desire to know Christ and to grow spiritually.  There are many mature Christians here.  I can see Christ in their attitudes.  Many participate in small groups for nurture and spiritual growth such as Bible Study Fellowship and Sunday School.  We have a strong Sunday School with classes for all ages including many adult classes.  The people in those groups truly love and care about each other, and new classes are forming regularly.  If your spirit longs to know Christ better, or to find him for the first time, this may be the church for you.

2)                  This church is committed to local and worldwide missions.  We house and feed to homeless, supply a food bank on our premises, and network in supporting many local mission projects.  In addition, we have sent mission teams to Bolivia and Nicaragua.  We have invited missionaries from Haiti and Germany to come share their stories with us, and we have a goal to be even more committed to the worldwide spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

3)                  We have great programs for all ages.  My wife is a professional public school teacher, with a lifetime of experience in Christian education.  When we first walked through the classrooms here she commented that this was the very best children’s program she had ever seen.  Our youth, adult, and music ministries are also outstanding.

I believe the Holy Spirit moves in all our lives, even when we are unaware.  I have been brought here for the Lord’s purposes.  Will he bring you here too?
