Music Ministry at Lake Oswego United Methodist Church has many forms, many shapes and many sizes. We are big and little people with big and little voices, big and little guitars, big and little handbells, big and little robes, big and little percussion instruments, big and little amounts of energy – but only huge hearts tuned to serving our Lord through the gift of music. Music opportunities are available for all ages – beginning with the tiniest two-year olds:
“We have come to this place to sing, play, or ring and laugh; to learn new music; to review old favorites; to learn new skills; to become what God has created and called us to be. “We have come to lead God’s people in praise.” If you are interested in learning more about any of the music groups, please contact the director or leader. |

Flipside Praise Band This group rehearses Thursday evenings and leads the music for the informal 8:30 Sunday Morning Alive! worship service each week in the Christian Activities Center Fellowship Hall. While the band is currently fully staffed, those interested are invited to visit with the leader about future possibilities. Flipside provides the music for SMA! from September through mid-July. The band’s CD, “Our Maker’s Dozen,” is available from the church office. Read more about it here, Flipside CD info and samples. Farside Youth Praise Band Farside comprises talented junior and senior high youth. The band participates in worship services several times a year. Lake Carillon and Vesper Bells There are two adult five-octave handbell choirs at the church. Lake Carillon rehearses from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, and Vesper Bells rehearses from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. on Mondays. Currently there are no openings for ringers; however, substitutes are needed for both choirs. Junior Choir Children in grades one through five are invited to sing in this choir. It meets from 4:00 – 5:00 on Wednesdays. Snacks, recreation and singing constitute their hour together. The choir sings at both the 9:30 and 11:00 worship services on the third Sunday of each month during the school year. Angel Choir Children ages two through kindergarten are automatic members of the Angel Choir. They rehearse together each week at the beginning of their Sunday School classes. The choir sings the first Sunday of the month at the 9:30 worship service. Other opportunities: Soloists and small groups provide music for worship services on occasional Sundays during the school year and more often during the summer.
