In March 2003, after reading an article about a small church in Iowa, Maribeth Williams helped organize a group of people at our church to make afghans, caps and pillows for the cancer patients at University Medical Center in Lubbock. What started out as a small group has now grown to an average size of about 12 people who meet every two weeks. We would like to acknowledge the wonderful job they are doing. They have received thank-you notes from as far away as Missouri.

Thank-You Notes

Dear Make a Difference This note of thanks for your kindness in making quilts and pillows for Joe Arrington Cancer Center is long past due because of a bountiful garden and extra chores due to my husband's illness. He has amyloidosis, which is a 'rare" blood disease being treated with chemo. He is making progress. You must be one of God's angels of mercy that will truly be greatly rewarded 'one day". It is comforting to know that others care when one is sick. May God bless you for every stitch you make, will be our prayer for you! Love, |
Ladies,
First of all, let me apologize for this being so late. Thank you so
much for remembering me with the smelter. I love it! I have
actually wished for one for quite a while. Next, let me tell you how much we appreciate the blanket, pillows and caps you have made for our patients. Your generosity and care are just awesome. May God bless you all. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Phyllis Landrum, Lubbock Texas. |
| Dear Making a Difference Please accept our thanks and appreciation for your kindness to us while we were in Lubbock at UMC in the Southwest Cancer Center. On the day my husband received his first chemotherapy treatment we were presented with a pillow and a comforter/quilt made by you talented ladies. For us away from home in an anxiety-filled situation, your tokens of caring added great warmth and comfort. We send our best wishes to you from Missouri and hope the work you do for others continues to bless other patients as it did us. Sincerely, Ann & Charles Coleman |
