Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Women
About Us
The women at Linden-Linthicum have been meeting as a "united" group way before the two chapels united in 1959. In those days, the group was called the "Ladies Aid Society" and then "Methodist Women". We have minutes from as far back as 1899, when the group met in homes for refreshments and business - like who would volunteer to help at the oyster supper on Election Day, make a cake for the strawberry festival in June, or help with vacation bible school in the summer. The women took care of providing curtains, rugs, furniture, repairs and even fences and shrubbery for the parsonage. They did this by having fundraisers, and also collected $.50 - $1.00 at each meeting; all this adding up to help them meet their budget. They took their job seriously and were pleased to help out in this way. This helped the circuit ministers and their families enjoy a better life style.

Our "United Methodist Women" of today still are pleased to help out locally - although the parsonage is a thing of the past. Their focus is on the mission of helping women and children in the church, county, conference, and world.

We have been contributing to the United Methodist Conference to aid in all these areas. Our group also enjoys helping out our own church families in times of need, by providing food, and encouragement to the homebound during illness, and receptions at funerals. Many of us help out with Vacation Bible School and the Christian Women's Thrift Shop.
The women meet every quarter as a large group for spiritual and friendship connections, while participating in monthly circles.
