Bouckville Church

The Bouckville United Methodist Church had its beginning with bringing of Methodism to the area by the Root family in 1806. The home that is presently known as the Wood residence on Route 20 in Bouckville was where the first class meetings were held until 1852, when the present building was put into construction. On August 31, 1853 the present church was dedicated. We will be celebrating our 200th anniversary of Methodism in September of 2006.

In this text we are pleased to tell you about the stained glass windows which we had repaired this past summer.

The eight beautiful stained glass windows were given to the Bouckville Methodist Church by the Congregational Church of Madison when it was discontinued and sold to the Knights of Pythias, February 12, 1909. These windows are priceless as the foreign glass factories were destroyed during the European Wars. Their ability to point our thoughts upward as we worship is endless. The early Christians were afraid of persecution if they wrote letters in the language of the day. So their messages were sent in symbolic language, each symbol, and there are many in the windows, conveys a thought to us if we but study them out and read the history of their meaning.

The windows did not exactly fit and were pointed at the top. It was necessary to build them up with glass to match to fit the rectangular openings. This work and inserting the windows cost $25.00 per window. Several people gave that amount and had a window dedicated to the memory of loved ones.

We welcome you to get acquainted with our church family and our activities. On Sunday mornings our Worship Service is at 9:30, Sunday School for children from 3 years old on is also at 9:30, our Intergenerational Bible Study is at 10:45 AM and we end the day with our Youth Group at 7:00 PM. We also have a Intergenerational Bible Study on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30.

Our mission is the "Great Commission" - "Go ye into the world and preach the gospel".

Please feel free to join us in worship and fellowship.

We ask for your prayers for revival within the Living Waters' Parish.
