Rev. Richard D. (Rick) Jones was born in Wellston, Ohio. After graduating from Canal Winchester High School in 1974, he entered The Ohio State University where he received a B.A. in Arts and Sciences in 1978.
Rick married Janet Boving on June 18, 1977. Their marriage has been blessed with two children, Elizabeth and Philip. Elizabeth is currently a student at The Bryman Institute pursuing a career as a Medical Assistant. Corporal Philip Jones is in the United States
Marine Corps and was recently deployed to Iraq.
Rick worked with his father in a ready-mixed concrete business after graduating from Ohio State. After answering his call to the ordained ministry, he began his studies at Asbury Theological Seminary in 1985. He received his M. Div. in 1988. Rick became a probationary member of the West Ohio Annual Conference in 1988, and a full member in 1990.
Rick has served the following churches: Faith UMC in Oak Hill, Tyler Memorial UMC in Chillicothe, Community UMC in Brookville, Neal Avenue UMC in Newark, and Columbia Heights in Columbus. He has been involved in committee work on both the district and conference levels. He has also served on the boards of the Jackson Area Ministries and the Licking County Children and Family First Council. One of the highlights of Rick's ministry was a mission trip to Southeast India in 1990.
Janet grew up near Carroll, Ohio. She is a graduate of Canal Winchester High School. She received a B.S. in secondary education from Otterbein College in 1978 and a Masters of Education from Ashland University in 2000. She currently teaches fifth
grade math and science in the Pickerington School District.
