Have you seen a special group of retired men who volunteer
their time and talents on Tuesdays? Each week, these dedicated men are in the
church building, bright and early, with a list of what needs to be fixed,
painted, or renovated. From cleaning out the refrigerator and shoveling snow to
putting up siding and repairing roofs – all the work is done by men in
cheerful moods and "let’s get it done" team work. Their latest
project has been painting the hallways. Maybe you’ve noticed how much brighter
the hallways look when you’re on your way to service, Bible Study, or evening
meetings. Soon you’ll see them cutting the lawns and trimming shrubbery and
repairing/renovating the exterior of the buildings. Deep appreciation goes to
this group -- not just for saving funds, but for creating good fellowship and
support among retired men of the church, and for sharing their love for God and
neighbor. Tuesday Crew: John Wagner, Don Irons, Mel Morrison, Will Brandt,
Bill Gaston, George Grahe, John Hess, Bill Howard, Al Lavinder, Jack Martin,
George Minarik, George Reynolds, Bob Schuman, Jim Stevens, Tom Tydings, Dick
Walker.
Grass cutting crew: Vernon Bailey, Will Brandt, John Hess,
Bill Howard, Don Irons, Henry Kaiss, Al Lavinder, Jack Martin, Dick Maynard,
George Minarik, J.T. Perry, Ray Robley, Dick Walker.
Additional note: We don’t want to forget the women who
have volunteered their time on Tuesdays by providing lunch and goodies for the
workers: the wives and family members of the Tuesday Crew and Dorothy Mellor
and Maude Sauerhammer; and planting shrubs and flowers: Ruth Syme and
Cindy Butz. Your thoughtfulness and special touches are extra blessings!
Thank you, too!
