LHUMC's Work With
Habitat for Humanity

Aluminum Cans:  We are still collecting cans and flip tops. Please squash the cans by stepping on them if at all possible. This makes storage of the cans easier and cleaner. We can only take them in for recycling once we have 10 pounds or more, so they must be stored in between.  Thanks again to Linda Zuck who has been collecting cans from her place of employment and to the Tuesday work crew for taking them to the recycling center.

New Building:  As you can imagine with skyrocketing real estate AHFH has been having a difficult time of not only acquiring donated properties, but also property at a reduced rate in AA county. Instead, they have been successful in acquiring some properties in Brooklyn/Curtis Bay area. Some will be rehabilitated and some demolished. We are hopeful that we might be assigned to one of these in the near future.

Website Update( www.arundelhabitat.org):  Please check the local website occasionally for the latest news.  The Renovation Station needs volunteers. Their hours are Thurs. & Fri. 10-5 and Sat. 8-1. They need sales assistance. They have many neat household and repair/renovation items at deeply discounted prices.  Their pickup days are Tues. and Wed. and they need drivers for the donated pickup truck. Contact Leslie at 410) 384-0212 x. 18 or email.  Greeting cards can be purchased on line as well.

Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts: We’ve all watched in horror at the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Katrina, and we pray for the deceased and those whose lives have been affected by this disaster.  Habitat for Humanity International has already begun accepting donations to assist the Habitat affiliates in Louisiana and Mississippi in the rebuilding efforts.  I know you will be generous in opening your hearts and checkbooks to those charities working to feed, clothe and shelter Katrina’s victims.  I prayerfully ask that you also continue your prayers and financial support for our local Habitat ministry.  Now more than ever, we need your help to assist those in need of simple, decent homes in our community.  Thank you for helping ALL God’s people in need! Melanie Smith, President, Arundel Habitat for Humanity

Donations by check may be made to Habitat for Humanity International.

Arundel Habitat for Humanity Opens Store

AHFH has opened a retail store offering new and good-condition home and building materials and products at very reasonable prices.  It is called Renovation Station.  The store is located in northern AA county at 8101 Ft. Smallwood Road, ˝ mile North of Stony Creek Draw Bridge.  Not only can the public purchase items there for their home renovation projects, but they can also make donations as retailers, contractors and individuals.  Renovation Station is owned and operated by Arundel Habitat for Humanity for the purpose of using profits to help build decent homes in partnership with low-income families living in sub-standard or inadequate housing throughout Anne Arundel County. It also saves our landfills and gives you a tax deduction (consult your tax advisor). If you have any of the following examples of items they are accepting as readily salable, you can call (410) 437-7754 to arrange your drop off.
