Support Services  Youth    Support    Housing
Neighborhood House has implemented a wide range of social services, economic and neighborhood development programs aimed at meeting the emergency needs of residents in the East St. Louis/ St. Clair County area.
Services to Older Adults - The Services to Older Adults Program provides homemaker services to over 400 elderly residents in East St. Louis and St. Clair County each year. The homemakers provide cooking, cleaning and personal care to elderly persons 60 years of age and older who are blind, handicapped or disabled. This service enables elderly residents to remain in their own homes near family and friends and often prevents unnecessary institutionalization.

Retired And Senior Volunteer - The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program provides volunteer opportunities for retired persons in the community. Through this program retired volunteers can make a difference in their own community through volunteering with community action groups, at local day cares or other community sites.

Adult Day Services - The Adult Day Services Program provides direct care for those who cannot be left unattended during the day, those in need of a protective environment and those which are physically and/or psychosocially disabled. Daily meals are provided as well as daily health assessments. Participants take part in a variety of activities such as day trips, arts and crafts, games, social interaction, and much more. This program is currently located at 1045 State Street.

Individual and Family Support Services provides emergency cash grants or other vendor payments or loans for emergency utility assistance, rental, medical, clothing and shelter assistance to assure that the basic necessities of life are being met for the individuals and families in the community. Last winter over 2,500 residents were without gas or electric for at least part of the winter months. Neighborhood House worked diligently with clients to get their service reinstated. This program also provides counseling and family support services to area residents.

Family Centered Services - Neighborhood House is the fiscal agent for this grant and is responsible for coordinating a single point of entry for family services. Family Centered Services includes individualized home-based parent education, emergency childcare, needs-based flexible funding, intervention services and group counseling.

TANF Scholarship Program - Provides Scholarships to low-income parents in an effort to assist them in completing their education and obtaining and maintaining employment that will enable them to become and remain self-sufficient.

Family Intervention Support Services Program - Provides assessment, case management, advocacy, and other support services to families to help avoid out of home placement for children. Serves approximately 75 families and more than 250 children.
