Young Children And Their Families  Youth    Support    Housing
Families with children often have special needs. We attempt to provide temporary and long-term solutions through social  services, economic and neighborhood development programs in the East St. Louis/ St. Clair County area.
Day Care, Before and After-School Care, Pre-Kindergarten Program: Neighborhood House provides day care services to children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Children are cared for in a warm, safe and nurturing environment. Teachers work with the children to improve their cognitive, social and physical abilities. In order to be eligible for services, parents must be working or in school. The program is designed to serve children who are at-risk of abuse or neglect. In addition, the Day Care Program also provides before and after school care and Pre-Kindergarten classes. The Day Care Program operates five days a week and provides transportation. Day Care services are provided at the East St. Louis Family Development Center at 1045 State Street.

Providing a Sure Start (PASS): is an early intervention/prevention program designed to significantly better prepare children and prepare parents to assist their children in assuring “A Sure Start” and a successful school experience. The program provides Parent Training, Child Development and Life Skills Classes in conjunction with comprehensive Case Coordination to children birth to 3 years of age and their parents. Activities and services are provided in the homes of the parents and at the Center, which is currently located at the East St. Louis Family Development Center.

Healthy Families Program: The goal of the Healthy Families Program is to promote positive parent-child interaction; promote healthy childhood growth and development; and to enhance family functioning by building trusting relationships, teaching problem solving skills and improving the family’s support system. Participants in the program must be new parents with a child birth to 2 weeks of age, a first-time pregnant woman or teenage parents. The Healthy Families Program is located at 1045 State Street.
