A Life of Miracles You who are far away, hear what I have
done; you who are near acknowledge my power! You simply cannot disentangle Jesus from miracles. Scholars in the last century tried very hard to discover a nonmiraculous Jesus. They utterly failed. Every single strand of material in the Gospels shows Jesus as Someone who was different in His powers from other people. Through Him God acted in a way impossible to understand if we think of Him simply as a good Man. The miracles begin at His birth, without human father. They continue in His ministry: miracles of healing and of exorcism, nature miracles (such as His feeding of the multitude or His walking on the sea in a storm), and supremely His raising from the dead Lazarus, the widow of Nain's son and Jairus's daughter. Last of all comes the greatest of miracles... His own resurrection from the grave...not just to a further span of life but to a new quality of life over which death has no power. That us the only Jesus for whom there is any shred of evidence.... He exhibited miraculous powers, and not once or twice but continually.

Mothers: God's Blessing During the month of May, many people celebrate the contribution their mothers have made in their lives. When I think of my own mother, I'm reminded of how she sacrificed on my behalf every day, which demonstrated her profound love for me. She was truly an example of God's unconditional love for His children. Now is a good time to reflect on the love your mother has given you, whatever form it may take. Some moms are closely knitted to their children, and others are aloof. But chances are, if you think long enough, you'll see an example of your mother's genuine love for you. It's also a good time to thank her for what she's done---embrace her, listen to her, honor her. The Bible says, "Honor your father and mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you" (Ex. 20:12). You'll be as blessed as she is. That's the way love works. Charles F. Stanley
Thoughts To Remember There is no kindness more appreciated than just "being there" when needed. If you always tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything. Maturity is the stage of life when you don't see eye to eye but can walk arm in arm. An older women knocked on the door of her daughter's house, and her grandson answered the door. "Hi Grandma!" the boy said. "Daddy saw you coming and said you're all he needs!" After spending three hours in a long line at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, a man stopped at a toy store to buy a gift for his son. He took his selection-a baseball bat-to the register. "Cash or charge, sir?" the clerk asked. "Cash," the man snapped. Apologizing for his rudeness, he explained, "I've spent the afternoon at the BMV." "Shall I wrap the bat," the clerk asked sweetly, "or are you going back there?"
