July 15-22 Lakers Service Trip to Mingo County W. Virginia 34 youth and leaders will be heading down to West Virginia for this years ASP Summer Mission Trip. The team from both our church and Hurdtown UMC will gather at our churchs parking lot at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 14th, for Communion led by Rev. Carter Smith, Pastor Emeritus of our church. They will then head down to their work site. They will return on Sunday, July 22nd. During our worship services on Sunday, July 29th, some of the team members will give their testimonies on the trip.
LAKERS WINDING DOWN When the LAKERS group first started their mission service with Appalachia Service Project in 2003, we went to ASP with a group of 18. Each year the group has grown, and this year we will be going to West Virginia with a group of 35!! With every new year, ASP has a new theme. Some have been 'Building on the Rock', and 'You Are the Light of the World'. This year's is 'You are the Salt of the Earth'. All of the themes are about spreading Gods word, serving others, and having a foundation built on faith. Not only are the Lakers a testament to these themes, apparent through their growth over the years, but you, our Church family and friends are as well. Your support and prayers for our group and your generous giving to our fundraising makes these trips possible. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you ALL from the bottoms of our hearts!!! |
